Segment based pricing means that there will be a fee for each group of individuals you would like to test your value proposition on. Practice has shown that most users test 4 value propositions across 2 segments and usually opt for the second package which already covers both.

Yes, you can if have never used the research functionality. Do note that once you research your value proposition the data is bought from exchanges and sample providers and your investment becomes un-refundable.
